Embrace health and let’s step into the Chen family’s Old Tai Chi
September is the golden autumn in Beijing, a season of harvest.
On September 8th, a new class for the beginner stage of Beihai Tai Chi began.
I came to the Beihai Jiulongbi Beginner Class. Today is the first time for everyone to meet. Sister Junfeng introduced the history and development of Beijing Chenjiagou Tai Chi Training Center to everyone, and then demonstrated the most fundamental Tai Chi practice – the Eight Methods of Tai Chi. The body movements are upright and proper, the joints are loose and flexible, and the strokes are clear. From the other side of the Nine-Dragon Wall, the rhythmic foot-shaking sounds of the senior students from the postgraduate class could be heard from time to time, giving people strength and evoking their yearning.

Nowadays, it is a rare thing for urbanites to put down their mobile phones and go out to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful scenery in nature. If I could go to the Nine-Dragon Wall in Beihai Park once a week and practice the old Chen family Tai Chi with Senior Sister Junfeng and other coaches, it would be a truly enjoyable time.
Our lives are free from worries about food and drink, but many people often feel weak, unhappy and unable to sense happiness. This is actually a sub-health state and needs to be taken seriously.
The practice system of the Chen family’s old Tai Chi is very systematic and detailed. The requirement for the movements at the beginner stroke stage is to be graceful and elegant, just like writing Chinese characters, except that the strokes in practicing boxing are “written” with the body. When our bodies are opened up by the strokes of Tai Chi, the whole person feels relaxed and happy from the inside out. Practicing Tai Chi can truly help us achieve physical and mental health. “Relying on oneself is better than relying on others.” Let’s regain our health and tap into the source of our life together in the process of practicing the Old Tai Chi of the Chen family.
