The first push hand of the Chen family’s old Tai Chi is called “Eight Circles Generating Each Other” in the score. The elders of Chenjiagou often say: “What is not round is not a fist; the square and the round complement each other in the way of life.” Tai Chi is a form of exercise that cultivates vital energy. It is square on the outside and round on the inside, and it is an authentic traditional Chinese culture.
The “Eight Circles Generating Each Other” aims to cultivate the eight circular rotations of the two kidneys within the body. That is, the right kidney is in the two horizontal circles and vertical circles on the right side, and the left kidney is in the two horizontal circles and vertical circles on the left side.
The first type of driving force is an important cultivation concept for consolidation and deepening in the primary stage. This video shows the first solo practice method of pushing hands.
