Call for Papers for the 30th Anniversary Series of Activities of the Center

Taiji Songquan· Promote the Dao and cultivate righteousness

It began in 1988

The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Chenjiagou Tai Chi Training Center. For the past three decades, we have always taken it as our responsibility to pass on the old frame of Chen-style Tai Chi, and have cultivated batch after batch of practitioners and disseminators of Taiji culture. To promote the spirit of Taiji and deepen teaching discussions, this essay solicitation activity is specially held. We sincerely invite all students to share their experiences and insights in learning Tai Chi and jointly explore the contemporary inheritance path of traditional Taiji.


I. Theme of the Essay Contest


Centering on “the Inheritance and Teaching Practice of the Old Form of Chen-style Tai Chi”, and based on personal experience in learning Tai Chi, the following directions can be focused on: 

1. Experience and Insight in practicing Boxing: Unique understanding and breakthroughs in moves, boxing techniques, breathing, and mental cultivation during the process of practicing the old form. 

2. Inheritance Story: Unforgettable moments of master-apprentice learning, or the influence of traditional teaching methods on oneself; 

3. Teaching Reflection: Understanding and suggestions on the old teaching methods, such as how to solve common problems for beginners and the application of modern teaching means, etc. 

4. Cultural Insights: The enlightenment of Tai Chi on physical and mental health, life philosophy or the way of dealing with the world;

5. Reading Reflections: Insights and Reading reflections on the guidance of practicing Tai Chi in “Taiji is the Way”.


Ii. Requirements for the Essay Collection


Target audience: All previous students, coaches and Tai Chi enthusiasts of this center; 

2. Genre: Mainly narrative and argumentative essays, with a word count of 800 to 3,000 words. Practice photos can be attached (please make notes and explanations). 

3. Originality: The content must be true and accurate. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. The author is solely responsible for the content. 

4. Format: The title should be in bold font size 3, the main text in Song font size 4, with 1.5 line spacing. At the end of the text, please indicate the author’s name, contact information, and years of practice.

5. Content reference:

– Confusion and solution process at the beginning of learning;

– A detailed understanding of a certain movement (such as the key points of force application in “Jin Gang Pounding a Mortar”);

– The actual cultivation process in the “three major stages and nine minor stages”;

-Experience of the Combination of traditional oral and mental instruction and Modern Science Teaching

-Personal cases of Tai Chi in regulating various chronic diseases and physical discomforts.

Iv. Special Notes


By submitting your manuscript, you are deemed to have authorized the organizer to use it. It will be preferred for publication on the center’s website and official account. Souvenirs will be given as appropriate for the published manuscripts.

The specific arrangements for the seminar will be notified separately. Please pay attention to the announcements of the center.
