“Tai Chi” and “Songquan”

Boxing is named after Tai Chi. The ancients must have deeply understood the principles of Tai Chi and established its name as a rule.
Tai Chi is the way of full authority.
“Tai” means the greatest, vast yet boundless. “Ji” means the smallest, small but without inner depth. Tai Chi also encompasses both the largest and smallest cosmic movements simultaneously.
The martial art named after the two characters “Tai Chi” is characterized by its profound meaning and strict methods.
Mr. Yang Songquan (Click here to learn more)Born in 1951 into a family of Tai Chi practitioners in Chenjiagou, Wen County, Henan Province, he has been practicing Tai Chi since childhood. For over sixty years, he has never stopped practicing. His Tai Chi skills are superb and his theoretical attainments are profound. He is a world-renowned Tai Chi master.
Tai Chi is life, and life is Tai Chi.
Observing the master’s words and deeds, every step he takes, whether walking, sitting or lying down, is in accordance with Tai Chi. Moreover, he always and everywhere imparts teachings to his disciples, covering not only the techniques of boxing but also the techniques of the mind and the teachings of the Dao, covering all aspects of the universe and life.
For all those in doubt, the master would enlighten them with just one sentence. All those who have studied it have a sudden enlightenment.

Cultivate trees to form forests

Protect the roots and meridians

No matter how tall a tree is, it never forgets its roots; no matter how far a river travels, it never forgets its source.
Tai Chi originated in Chenjiagou Village, Wen County, Henan Province. From here, Tai Chi spread to all over the world.
As the 11th generation inheritor of Chenjiagou Tai Chi, the master has always kept this in mind, never forgotten his roots and always cared about his hometown.
At the beginning of this year, the Chenjiagou Village Committee and the Chenjiagou Tai Chi Association jointly presented an honorary certificate to the master.Mr. Yang Songquan was awarded the title of “Ambassador for the Dissemination of Chenjiagou Tai Chi Culture”Thank you to him for his decades-long promotion of Chen-style Tai Chi and his support and contributions to his hometown.

The master not only adheres to the principle of protecting one’s roots and lineage himself, but also requires his disciples to do so.

Cultivate new seedlings again
Teaching boxing is like planting trees. If you sow a seed in spring, after the nurturing of time, it will naturally bear the fruits of health, happiness, joy and longevity.
This spring, as everything takes on a fresh look, the training center held an open experience class to spread Tai Chi culture to friends who love Tai Chi, which was warmly welcomed by the new friends.
The master taught the “Eight Methods of Tai Chi” health-preserving exercises

The master guided the students to find the “Baihui Point”, where Baihui is the meeting point of all the Yang forces.

The Voice of Students
“Following the laws of nature and achieving harmony between man and nature are the inherent survival concepts of Chinese civilization.”
To achieve the principle of following the natural way, the first step is to follow the rules of the way. Tai Chi is the way. Only by practicing it in accordance with strict rules and correct methods can one reach the state of “nature”.
Under the guidance and meticulous cultivation of their master, many students have gradually reached a state of excellence on their path of spiritual practice and have come to appreciate the boundless mysteries of Tai Chi.
Let’s listen to their innermost thoughts together!

I used to think that Tai Chi was unfathomable and out of reach. It is extremely fortunate to be able to practice the authentic Old Tai Chi of Chenjiagou by chance. I still remember the first class. Master Yang Songquan led us to practice the “Eight Methods of Tai Chi”. As he practiced, he explained: “Loosely lead the top force, relax the shoulders and lower the elbows, bend the knees and relax the hips. The top of the head should be led upwards like the tip of a pine tree beside the Nine-Dragon Wall…” These key points left a deep impression on me and persisted throughout my subsequent practice. I have been practicing Tai Chi for more than two years. My sub-health state has disappeared and I am full of energy and vitality every day. Practicing Tai Chi has become an indispensable part of my life and I have benefited a lot from it.
— Wang Qingjiang

My master always gives lectures in a simple and clear way. He is good at explaining profound truths in a language that everyone can understand, which has benefited me a lot. The most memorable part was when the master explained the method of winding silk: “Winding it forward and backward is like driving forward and backward. Wrap it forward to the waist (forward), pause for a moment, and then wrap it backward to the hand (backward).” My master’s explanation suddenly enlightened me, and the abstract method of winding wires also had a pattern to follow. I am grateful for my master’s patient guidance and for Tai Chi, this gift of life.
— Tao Zhi

I began to learn Tai Chi from my master two years ago. My master not only taught the martial arts related to Tai Chi, but more importantly, imparted the precious traditional Chinese Taoist culture. By listening to my master’s teachings, I have gained new understanding and insight into Tai Chi and Taoist culture, and my sub-health condition has also been greatly improved. I am especially grateful for my master’s meticulous guidance.
— Zhang Dongbin

Chinese civilization has endured and passed down continuously. Tai Chi, Yin and Yang, breathing, opening and closing, emptiness and reality, moderation and uprightness, roundness and squareness, Winding silk. Learning Tai Chi under Master Yang Songquan is my greatest happiness. From then on, I have embarked on the bright path of life, with poetry and boundless beauty in the distance. Thank you, Master. I will repay you with a state of full transparency and harmony between man and nature!
— Gao Jianmin

Respect your fists, ancestors and teachers; purify your body, mind and spirit. Starting from respect and going through the actual process of learning Tai Chi such as tranquility and purity, to achieve the goal of strengthening the body and enhancing China, and to realize a wonderful life, this is the realm of Tai Chi.
— Liang Dexiu

The undistorted Old Tai Chi of Chenjiagou is the unwavering teaching philosophy of the master. The practice of this philosophy has forged the distinct characteristics of Chen-style Old Tai Chi at the Beijing Training Center. We are willing to follow our master and spare no effort to pass on the old Tai Chi of Chenjiagou.
— Zhang Xiuguo

“Tai Chi Affinity”
When we were children
Tai Chi is an activity for the elderly as mentioned by grandma.
I said that when I get old,
Practice it like grandma.
When growing up
Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese culture taught by the teacher.
I think when there is a chance,
Promote it like a teacher.
Later on,
Tai Chi is a health preservation method that friends talk about.
I came to Beihai out of admiration.
Follow the master to learn it like a friend.
And now,
Tai Chi is the world’s highest Taoist culture as mentioned by the master.
I have the good fortune to meet you in this life.
Be determined to pass it on like the master.
