A time-honored brand established in 1988
In the fight against the epidemic with Tai Chi, people stand united as one.
To support the entire nation in fighting the epidemic and actively respond to the national call for scientific health preservation, the Taiji Songquan team has an extremely close connection with Taiji, taking the epidemic as the enemy and writing our story with Taiji.
The following are the practice experiences and health insights of several boxing enthusiasts.

The best immunity is Tai Chi
01

Our family is from the same school and the same master. We are both relatives and boxing friends. We have common topics, which can enhance our relationship even more. During the current COVID-19 pandemic, our whole family has persisted in practicing boxing, maintaining physical and mental health, and enjoying a happy family life. Tai Chi Home is the best way to practice Tai Chi.
My greatest realization: The best doctor is oneself, and the best self is immunity. The best immunity is Tai Chi。
Here are my recent poems to share with you all.

Practicing Taoism but being evil
Thoughts on practicing Boxing at home for epidemic Prevention
Tai Chi is the way of heaven.
Righteousness fills the universe.
Trample on evil spirits and demons
A fist can drive away the plague god.
Transport the mist and miasma.
The winged black returns to its heart.
Cultivate virtue and foster righteousness.
All evil cannot invade.

Taiji Ballad
Whether moderately prosperous or not
The key lies in health.
Happy or not,
The body is in charge.
To be in good health
Tai Chi is a magic weapon.
Practice Tai Chi well
Old age does not make one look old.

Practicing Tai Chi makes one vigorous in old age
02

One day in early 2018, a clear and crisp ringing of the phone rang. I grabbed it casually and heard the voice of an old classmate I hadn’t seen for many years through the receiver. After we excitedly exchanged greetings about each other’s recent situations, this student said, “Why don’t you practice Tai Chi? There are authentic Chenjiagou Tai Chi masters teaching in Beihai Park.” After hearing this, I was a bit hesitant. Tai Chi movements are graceful and elegant, with a combination of mind and form. But I always feel that I’m quite old and have no foundation. Can I learn it? An old classmate encouraged me to study together and also mentioned that a family of relatives had undergone tremendous changes both physically and mentally through practicing Tai Chi. At this time, my spouse beside me also encouraged me to sign up, saying that I would practice with you. In this way, we set out together on the broad and smooth path of practicing Chen-style Tai Chi.
Looking back on the one year and nine months of practice so far, at the beginning, for people like us who are older and lack a foundation in exercise, there were many difficulties in practicing Tai Chi, such as slow understanding of the essence of Tai Chi, poor comprehension ability, stiff body, and inaccurate movements, etc. Sometimes we even felt embarrassed ourselves. However, Master Yang Songquan has always been full of enthusiasm in guiding and encouraging us, patiently explaining and demonstrating, dispelling our concerns and giving us a hundredfold confidence that we can master Tai Chi well.

Every Saturday at the Jiulongbi Dojo, I listen to Master Yang preaching and imparting martial arts skills, especially when I hear Master Yang talkThe purpose of practicing Tai Chi is to lead one’s life onto the right path of health, happiness, joy and longevity.AndActivities controlled by the heart are all labor, tiring and harmful to the body. Tai Chi is a true form of exercise that moves the whole body through the two kidneys, aiming to cultivate both the body and the spirit.Such words have become the stepping stone and golden key for us to practice Tai Chi. Through the changing seasons of winter and summer, with continuous practice, we gradually experienced the physical and mental relaxation brought by Tai Chi and felt the improvement of our own practice.
We haven’t been practicing Tai Chi for long. It’s just the first step of a long journey, and our understanding is still very superficial. However, Chen-style Tai Chi aligns with the principles of Yin and Yang in Yi learning, draws on the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine, and employs the breathing techniques of Taoism. It is a set of fitness martial arts that harmonizes Yin and Yang, combines hardness and softness, and draws on the strengths of various styles. Through practicing Tai Chi, my wife and I have benefited a lot. My original symptoms such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular premature beats have disappeared. Every day, I am in a good mood and full of smiles. Although my wife has no serious illness, her body functions are aging and she has experienced leg pain and numbness. At times, she had to squat down to relieve the symptoms after walking for a while. Now, all these symptoms have disappeared. OurThe quality of life has improved significantly.
At present, the novel coronavirus epidemic is rampant. We hope that all Tai Chi enthusiasts, like us, will not only take good care of their own protection but also persist in practicing traditional Chen-style Tai Chi to build up their bodies, enhance their immunity, and prevent the epidemic scientifically and healthily.

Cultivating one’s character and mind lies in persistence

Time flies. In the blink of an eye, it has been nearly ten years since I started learning boxing from my master. I originally thought it would take me a year or two to learn and master it. Little did I know that the more I learned, the more I understood the profound and mysterious nature of Tai Chi. There is no end to learning. With the patient teachings of Master Yang Songquan and the encouragement and mutual learning among classmates, I have persisted in this way.
Throughout the entire process of learning boxing, what impressed me the most was what my master called “grinding and polishing”. Over the past ten years, the greatest benefit I have gained is the tempering of my character. As the saying goes, it is easy to change a river or a mountain, but hard to change one’s nature. Tai Chi, as an internal martial art, is not only about the cultivation of form but also about the refinement of one’s mind and nature.
I have a Tai Chi knife and I often practice it. Due to years of practice, its wooden handle has changed from the initial white to brownish red (as shown in the picture below). Every time I see this knife, I am reminded of the scene when my master solemnly handed it to me back then, allowing me to see the colors of time…

After practicing boxing for a long time, I am getting closer and closer to the state required by my master.Respect, tranquility and purity. In daily life, one is increasingly capable of withstanding complex and diverse distractions and calmly facing various challenges with the spirit of Tai Chi.
The current outbreak of the novel coronavirus has not changed my daily routine. I still wake up naturally between 5:30 and 6:00 every morning, then practice Tai Chi for an hour, followed by breakfast and work.

Because I have persisted in exercising for a long time, all my physical indicators are normal. Just as the saying goesStand like a pine, sit like a bell, walk like the wind. When one is in good health, they naturally feel happy and thus often feel grateful to their master.
The master once used the metaphor of “Journey to the West” to tell us that in the process of practicing boxing, one has to go through ninety-eight difficulties. I think this epidemic can also be regarded as a hardship. I believe that after the storm comes the rainbow! I sincerely hope that my master, my master’s wife, my senior fellow students who have been with me day and night, and all my classmates will always stay healthy!
